Panic Disorder
Kang Eun-Ho

Abstract
Panic disorder is a chronic and disabling condition characterized by acute and unexpected anxiety attack, fear of losing control, and autonomic hyperarousal symptoms such as palpitation, sweating, dizziness, etc. Many researches provide evidences that genetic and neurobiological factors are associated with the development of panic disorder. Especially, recent studies show that some aberrancy in the function of neural circuit-i.e. ¡°fear network¡±-would be related to the pathophysiology of panic disorder. On those biological basis, effective drugs including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and benzodiazepines are used as a primary antipanic agents.
